Career Planning For High School Students
Many students are uncertain about a career path they wish to pursue and often, they lose time and money on unnecessary college classes while trying to choose a major. As the U.S. faces a difficult economic situation and high unemployment, to choose the right career at the right time has become more important than ever. To fight against this problem, two schools of Indiana High began offering courses to help students begin career exploration and planning at an earlier age.
Tippecanoe Valley and Warsaw Community secondary schools have developed classes to teach students about different careers before they get to college. Students explore career options at an early age can eliminate
the possibility of spending more time in college because of indecision about choosing a career. In addition, classes enable students to explore different educational opportunities, such as online learning, and help distinguish the differences between technical schools, colleges and four-year colleges.
Carmichael Arena teaches “Introduction to the life and career” in hMSCs. Next year, the course name becomes “Planning for college and careers.” Carmona said the course offers students a change to learn about them himself, his lifestyle, personality, values, interests, skills and objectives. “Students learn about various career options based on what they learned about themselves.
When a child is in high school he should have some idea in his mind as in which career option he would like to choose. This will help in shaping and molding the further career avenues.
Career planning is important to decide the future. It is necessary to judge which way to go and for that what kind of education is required and thus high school students need career planning from the very beginning.
High school is the most apt time to start for your career planning. In this stage you have to decide what career you want to pursue.
